Billy Bob Thornton (geboren op 4 augustus 1955) is een Amerikaanse acteur, scenarioschrijver, regisseur en muzikant. Thornton verwierf al vroeg bekendheid als castlid van de CBS-sitcom Hearts Afire en in verschillende films uit de vroege jaren 90, waaronder On Deadly Ground en Tombstone. Halverwege de jaren 90 won hij een Academy Award voor Beste Bewerkte Scenario na het schrijven, regisseren en spelen in de onafhankelijke film Sling Blade. Na het succes van Sling Blade speelde hij in verschillende grote films, waaronder Armageddon (1998) en A Simple Plan. Eind jaren 90 begon Thornton een carrière als singer-songwriter. Hij heeft drie albums uitgebracht en was de zanger van een bluesrockband.
